I began moving more, learning about nutrition, spending more time outside and becoming curious about what my body might actually be capable of.
Over time, I lost 19kg, discovered running, completed a self-supported Ironman, stepped into ultra trail running and found myself spending more and more time outdoors.
But the biggest change wasn’t a number on the scales or a finish line.
It was how differently I began to see myself.
The outdoors became home
Nature slowly became one of the places where I felt most like myself.
Running, hiking, and spending long days outdoors have taught me a lot about patience, resilience, discomfort, joy, perspective and letting go of the need to control everything.
Some adventures have gone brilliantly. Others absolutely haven’t. And honestly, I’ve learned from both.
That’s a big part of what I want MindFuelBody to be now. Not a place where I tell people what they should do.
A place where I share what I’ve experienced, what I’m experimenting with, what has helped me personally, what hasn’t, and what I’m still figuring out.
What MindFuelBody means to me now
The name still means a lot to me.
Mind: The thoughts, beliefs, fears, confidence, curiosity and mindset that influence how we experience life.
Fuel: Food, hydration, rest, recovery and the things that help us feel nourished and supported.
Body: Movement in all its forms — running, hiking, strength, mobility, walking, playing, resting, and simply learning to pay attention to our bodies.
These are still the things I’m endlessly curious about. The difference is that I’m no longer sharing them as someone trying to coach you.
I’m sharing them as me. Someone who loves movement and the outdoors, who is still learning, still experimenting, still getting things wrong, and still getting excited about what might be possible.
What I’m exploring now
Right now, I’m training for HYROX while gradually building towards my next 100-mile trail race.
Those two things could hardly be more different — which is exactly why I enjoy them.
I love discovering new ways to move, testing myself in different environments and seeing what each challenge teaches me.
You’ll also find plenty here about trails, hiking, mobility, foot health, outdoor adventures, travel, mindset, food, rest, recovery, and all the random lessons that seem to appear somewhere between the start and finish of an adventure.
I don’t share these things as promises, prescriptions, or guarantees. They are simply my experiences and reflections.
Take what resonates, leave what doesn’t, and always find what works for you.
Rooted Calm
The one part of my work that I do continue professionally is Rooted Calm.
Rooted Calm has its own dedicated space and is where I offer hypnotherapy for areas including confidence, habits, emotional wellbeing and performance.
For runners and endurance athletes, that also includes Race Day Mindset Hypnotherapy.
If you’re looking for professional support from me, rather than simply following my personal journey here, Rooted Calm is the place to go.

Come along for the ride
More than anything, I want this space to feel human. I’ll share the adventures that go well. The ones that don’t.
The things I’m learning. The questions I’m asking. The places I visit.
The challenges I sign up for and occasionally wonder why on earth I thought they were a good idea.
And hopefully, somewhere in all of that, you’ll find a little inspiration for your own life too.
If you’d like a more personal note from me each week, you can join my Mindful Monday Morning Mail.
It’s where I share reflections on movement, mindset, nature, adventure, food, life and whatever I’ve been thinking about that week.

Happy Trails,
Tamara
Hi, I’m Tamara
MindFuelBody started as a business built around my qualifications in running, movement, nutrition and wellbeing.
For a long time, I worked professionally as a coach, Personal Trainer, Nutritionist and Ultra Run Coach, and MindFuelBody was the place where all of that came together.
That chapter has now changed.
I no longer run MindFuelBody as a coaching business.
Today, this space is much more personal.
It’s where I share my own experiences, adventures, lessons, mistakes, ideas and the things I’m learning along the way — in the hope that something here might inspire someone else to move, explore, slow down, try something new, or simply look at things a little differently.
How it all started
My relationship with movement hasn’t always been straightforward.
As a teenager, I was told by my GP I would never be particularly sporty or fit because of medication I was taking at the time. For years, I carried that belief with me.
Eventually, I started questioning it.
